The picture created the perfect backdrop for my Christmas villages.

We love this picture so much as it reminds us of when people shopped down town and we didn't have Malls like we have today. The stores were open until 5:30 except on Friday they were open until 9:00p.m. and they were closed on Sunday as people went to church on Sunday and listened to programs on the radio and had family over for supper and some people went to church Sunday night as well. At Christmas time the store would have Christmas music playing out side as you went from one store to another shopping. The store keepers gave you individual attention when shopping in their store and at Christmas time they even wrapped your parcel in Christmas paper without any extra cost. It was a wonderful time to grow up back then.
