For the cost of this mantel, the quality of materials was definitely not worth the price. The wood is very dry and lightweight, like balsa wood. Also, the design overlay is more black than brown in the photos, giving them a different appearance. They also look pretty raw, so I'm going to try to refinish them and hopefully give them a more refined look. For the price, they should be ready for use. In hindsight I definitely would not have purchased these for what I paid for them.
