Hook is just too small. Since I bought this I've seen a beefier version of a fancy suction hook that I'd like to try. This one looks cheap and can barely hold a washcloth.

These work great! I have stained glass on my windows and was afraid that they might not be strong enough or keep the seal but so far, so good!
