I bought the set as a gift for my son. I opened up the package and the set seemed like it was very well constructed. The only thing that I was a bit disappointed in was the fabric. I was hoping it was 100% cotton or had more of a cotton blend to it. You can't use it as a blanket as it isn't very soft. You'd have to put a sheet between the duvet and your body. As for how it would hold up when washed I don't know since we haven't had it long enough.
