I bought these, in dark brown, for a set of wooden kitchen chairs that are quite old and have relatively small seats on them. The kitchen already is quite decorated, with whole red brick floors, fancy cabinetry, elaborate hanging light fixtures, a walnut island, and even two Persian rugs on the floor. These cushions do NOT make a fashion statement. They simply fit it, match the color of the chairs, and are perfect for their purpose. To me, these facts alone make them a hit. They don't need to be "lovely" or items of decor that make a fashion statement of their own. I love the fact that the covers zip off for cleaning; the insert looks decent enough; the non-skid backing seems well constructed; the texture of the fabric, a type of upholstery grade subtle tweed, looks durable. It remains to be seen how well that these chair pads will hold up to use. The ties are well long enough and very tightly attached. The zipper looks durable. In our household, the odds are that the couple of pet cats will become the heaviest users of these chair pads, and this is one special reason why the covers must be both durable and removable for cleaning purposes.
These chair pads match their photos perfectly. The dark brown color, to my eyes, a shade of medium walnut, is totally "neutral." Depending on the light, the color may look like "distressed black" or "dark taupe," but, so far, the color of these pads do not look like chocolate, not to my eyes. What is important is that they are a shade that matches and compliments the color of most wood chairs and they appear perfect for their purpose. I highly recommend them.
