The Final Boss of Furniture Assembly. You Have Been Warned. I consider myself pretty fast at deciphering an overwhelming furniture instruction manual, but this desk was truly in a league of its own. This is not a casual Sunday afternoon project. This is a test of patience, spatial reasoning, and your will to live. A few tips to help you survive * Double-check the direction of the legs. It’s surprisingly easy to install them backward, and if you do, the drawers will not fit. Ask me how I know. * Triple-check the holes on EVERY board. Make absolutely sure each piece is facing the correct direction before you commit. One wrong move and you’ll be questioning every life decision that led you here. * The drawer tracks are a trap. The instructions tell you to remove the track runners but conveniently fail to explain what to do with them. The answer is to wait until you’re near the end, then screw them onto the drawers. Seems obvious in hindsight, but the novel-length instruction manual could have spared us the mystery. * KEEP THE BOXES. Don’t toss the packaging just because you’ve finished a few steps. You’ll need those boxes to prop up the desk during assembly. Apparently, the final boss has multiple phases. Now, the actual desk the quality is meh, but I’m giving it 4 stars because expectations should be calibrated to the price. It’s stable enough that I don’t fear for my life, but it definitely wobbles while writing. The faux wood chips easily, so I wouldn’t expect it to hold up particularly well to heavy wear and tear. On the plus side, I like the standing desk motor, and all the storage is genuinely useful. It looks good enough and gets the job done. Final verdict Decent desk for the money, questionable durability, and an assembly process that deserves its own boss music. If you buy it, may the odds be ever in your favor.
