The three inch thickness was perfect for sitting on the hard wood chairs. They are beautiful and the fabric brings a touch of elegance to the room with the toile pattern. The two inch wide ties are better than spaghetti sting thin ties. The seventeen inch length expands to twenty inches because there is a little scrunched elastic part closest to the cushion. The scrunched up material allows some give for movement to the cushion when someone applies their weight on top when sitting. Great product.
