I don’t love these chairs, though I was really hoping I would. I ordered the green stripes with what they called ‘medium yellow wood’ finish. To be fair, I don’t think I really realized from the listing pictures how much I wasn’t going to like the odd angle of construction with the sled legs. Before I ordered the chairs, I was looking at the listing and thinking it was a really unique and interesting design, and I loved the stripes. I could see that the legs were angled, but in person it’s a very chunky modern angle, overly exaggerated to look like it’s leaning back. I was hoping the wood tone (even though it said yellow) would tend to be a little bit more neutral-warm, and in most of the pictures in the listing, the tone is definitely warmer than it is in person. Also, in most of the listing photos, there’s a neutral rug underneath so the sled legs resting on the floor aren’t quite as obvious as they are in my house where the floors are quite different. I would not call this wood yellow, I would call it cold greige - there’s definitely a grayish tint to it as well as a yellowish tint so it almost comes across as sickly green. The lighting in most of my photos gives it much more warmth than it actually has, except for the last photo with a close-up of the leg. It’s not an attractive color and the finish looks very painted, even though it’s nice, solid wood. Now, the fact that it IS solid wood is definitely a huge plus for me, that I love. I also still love the stripes, and the fabric is a woven comfortable upholstery material that feels like natural fibers. The assembly instructions were clear, and it was a fairly quick and easy assembly, the end result being very solid and sturdy, and they also included screw-in floor-leveling adjusters on the bottom of the legs. The design of this chair is very modern and I have a very transitional home with quite a few modern pieces as well as traditional, farmhouse, and antiques, but this chair just isn’t working at the kitchen table that I was hoping to use it at. On the other hand, it is extremely comfortable so I am keeping this pair of chairs so that I can use them for extra seating when we have dinner guests. I’m keeping one in the hallway near the stairs and I haven’t decided where to keep the other one yet.
Pros: solid wood, sturdy construction, basically tip proof, extremely comfortable, fun & cool striped fabric fabric. Cons: very modern profile makes for limited design use (it doesn’t play well with others), the lines of the legs end up looking very awkward & chunky in person, and the medium yellow wood option has what I consider an unattractive greenish-gray finish (see close-up of leg photo).
