I got this bookcase in brown. It is very sturdy and goes well with the other pieces I had in my office. Directions were a little confusing but I got it put together.

I read the reviews that mentioned the rough surfaces on the bookcases, and that is true. However, if you’re going for a rustic, cabiny, or southwest vibe they are perfect! They’re well made despite being rustic. I purchased three and they look beautiful along my wall.

Product is well designed and easy to assemble. Unfortunately, one of the shelves had a small splinter that broke off on the front facing edge. And, those shelves cannot be turned backwards and get the same look. Sanded it down and applied polyurethane to "hide" it. Still a good value for solid wood bookcase of this size.

Instructions are mostly graphic, not written. Can be good and bad. Installing the shelves should be as the diagram shows them. Bolt together the cross bars and sides. Orient and slide all of the shelves plus bottom shelf into position. Then lay them all down, except the one/s you are screwing to the sides. When moving to the next step, installing the back pieces, make sure you've oriented them correctly. There is a top & bottom to them. Verify they're oriented correctly by pushing a screw through a couple of the middle holes in each back piece. If you hit a shelf, you have top & bottom correct. If the screw goes all the way through, the back piece is upside down.

Solid wood, well made. heavy - definitely need the no-tip hardware.
