This is a beautiful coffee table that appears to be real wood - it's heavy but doesn't weigh a ton like manufactured wood. I think the finish is darker brown and not as red as the photo which is fine for me. The deep drawers are wonderful and can be opened from either side - no more baskets sitting around with my lip balm, remote, tissues, scissors, etc. Also the drawer bases have thick plastic strips for smooth opening and closing.
