The first bookcase we ordered had a broken shelf. But, I contacted customer service and they sent out the new shelf.

Beautiful piece of furniture and very sturdy. The only reasons for not giving it 5 stars the top shelf of the base portion is slightly bowed. This means that the lowest back cross piece doesn’t sit flush and the provided screws barely connect the 2 pieces. There was no way to repack and return without a lot of drama. Despite that flaw, I really love the piece and it coordinates well with my decor.
