The bed came with a few scratches and marks on it which I saw plenty of other reviewers comment on. However, once the bed was assembled you could barely notice. We did not pay for the assembly and put it together ourselves which wasn't too hard but definitely took longer than the time deemed on the instructions. The color is lighter than I thought but still looks great with our other furniture. Update: This bed did not last long. It constantly had pieces fall apart and break. We ended up getting rid of this bed altogether.
