Very sturdy and looks good in person. I've never had a butterfly leaf table, but the look of the leaf in person is not my favorite - it really stands out. The holes/pegs that lock the leaf into place also don't quite match up, so there was a lot of maneuvering to get it into place. I bought this table as a set (with the matching chairs). The chairs match well and come in three pieces; my only gripe with these is that they're not level. When you sit on them, the weight seems to even them out a bit, but they wobble when empty.

We love the sturdiness and design of the table but the finish has started to chip and the top is not flush...making writing a bit difficult.
