First of all, we LOVE these beautiful Kirby Dining Chairs! But as one reviewer has already observed, the wood back and seat are indeed just a bit more golden-orange than they look in the photos. Not in any way garish or gaudy... just a bit warmer. Strangely, each chair comes in two pieces: the welded metal frame with seat back attached + the unattached seat. They could be shipped completely assembled, but the delivery box would have to be a mere 6-inches taller! So you'll need to screw the seat onto each chair, and though it's not hard, it CAN be a little finicky. That's because (as another reviewer has observed) pilot holes are NOT drilled into the bottom of the seats. Before purchasing the chairs, I emailed Wayfair to ask if the seats really didn't have pre-drilled pilot holes, and they checked with the manufacturer... who reportedly replied that there ARE pre-drilled holes. NOPE! And though the seat is made of sturdy 7-layer bent plywood, it's just a half-inch thick. So I recommend AGAINST drilling your own pilots... unless you know how to do so without accidentally punching through the seat! Not having those holes makes assembly finicky because the circular cut-ins at the seat's back corners are wider than the metal legs that are supposed to slot into them. So during assembly, the seat can easily slip and squirm. To control this, I: * Placed the seat upside-down on a table with the seat's back edge near me, * Placed the metal chair frame upside down on top of the seat, with its rear legs similarly near me, * Pressed the frame tightly against the curved cuts in the seat corners, and turned the frame until its rear seat-support bar looked parallel to the seat's back edge, * Held them tightly together with one hand in that orientation while I used a sharp awl to press centered "pilot dents" through the middle hole in each of the chair's seat-support bars and into the seat, * Then used a hand-held screwdriver to drive screws through the support bars, into those two awl dents, until the screws were just hand-tight, this locked the seat and frame together while I * Used the awl to center dents in the wood through the other four screw holes... and then hand-drove screws into them * And finally went back around to make sure all six screws were still hand-tight. Now, I'm not a workworker, and the above procedure isn't as complicated as it might sound. All that was needed is a sharp awl (or kitchen skewer) to make dents in the wood where the screws should go and a hand-held screwdriver. And it took me only 20 minutes to assemble both chairs. Only one more thing should be mentioned about Wayfair's description page. Under "Specifications" it says that the "Main Material" is "Plastic." NOT TRUE! The only plastic is in the foot casters. Someone... if not the manufacturer, then Wayfair themselves... should fix that! But bottom line... the Kirby Dining Chairs are beautiful, comfortable and sturdy. And if you like how they look, buy 'em!

We ordered these chairs because they had great reviews and were sturdy enough for commercial use. They arrived in great shape and we painted them to match our brand - they turned out great!

Nice looking chairs. Chairs go really well with my table. For reason(s) I don't understand, the seats don't have pre-drilled holes to attach seat to legs? That's the reason for 4 star versus 5 star rating.

Great simple, comfortable chair for our bistro counter!
