A chair mat is perfect for a carpeted floor. It does slip a little when you move forward in the chair to remedy this, you can have your desk against the wall, free of any air ducts. I will purchase non-slip stoppers for mine.

Works great but cracked a couple months in, still using it and I purchase over a year ago but it continues to crack and break. Only other complaint is that corner has started to turn up and will trip me
