This is not solid wood, it is hollowed wood. Took 2 hours to put together with 2 of us. The care instructions came in Japanese and I was able to get them translated. Follow the direction of the wood grain. * To maintain the finish: Regularly apply the recommended furniture wax or oil. * For spills or dirt: Wipe them away gently using a well-wrung, soft cotton cloth. * Avoid: Mops, alkaline cleaners, soapy water, corrosive liquids, gasoline/benzine, paint thinner, and high-concentration alcohol. * Waxing/oiling: To preserve the wood’s appearance and help prevent cracking, apply furniture wax or oil once every six months to one year, following the product’s directions. Temperature and humidity * Avoid direct sunlight: Strong sunlight can fade the wood, deteriorate the coating, and cause cracking. Use curtains where needed. * Avoid prolonged humidity: Damp conditions—especially during long summer rainy periods—can cause mold. Use air-conditioning or dehumidification. Do not repeatedly wipe with a wet cloth. * Maintain a stable temperature: Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can cause cracking, warping, and discoloration. Precautions for use * Move the furniture gently and avoid impact or excessive force. * Keep sharp or hard objects from scratching the surface. * Avoid placing heavy objects down forcefully. * Always use a heat-resistant mat under hot items. * Check periodically for loose screws or damaged parts and repair them promptly. Natural color variations Variations in color and grain are normal and are not considered defects. Differences can result from: * The tree’s age, species, growing location, and natural environment * Whether the wood came from the trunk’s center or outer portion * The direction in which the board was cut * Different rates of stain or finish absorption * Slight differences between batches of finishing materials Small imperfections and variations are described as part of the natural character of solid-wood furniture. Contact customer service only if there is a defect that clearly and significantly affects its appearance. Most important for your table: This confirms it appears to have an oil/wax-type finish, not a highly protective polyurethane-style coating. It will need more attentive care: coasters, placemats, immediate spill cleanup, trivets, and re-oiling or waxing every 6–12 months. Overall, the description is misleading and no matter how hard we try, we can’t seem to get the two leafs to flush together. To me, this will not make for a wonderful long-term family dining table.

Love it perfect size and quality is great!

The product specifications state a Leaf is included - I had to unbox the entire box to figure out a Leaf was not included in what shipped. Also, some of the holes were not properly punched making assembly very difficult.
