Looks great, but I have concerns about long-term durability. This Murphy bed looks very nice once assembled and is a clever way to add a guest bed and work surface to one room. The desk, built-in reading lights, and USB charging are thoughtful features. That said, I have some real concerns about how well it will hold up over time. The mattress platform is made from fairly thin engineered wood. It does have reinforcement, but that reinforcement is also thin wood, so it does not inspire much confidence. I will be warning guests to get into the bed gently, definitely no kids jumping on it, no "couples activities", and I would not want an adult flopping down onto it. It feels like that could end badly. The desk area is also much less functional than the photos suggest. There is not enough usable depth for a normal monitor and keyboard setup. If you intend to use it as an actual workstation, you would likely need a small console table in front of it for the keyboard. In practice, it is more decorative than functional. The reading lights are a nice idea, but they are bright white only, with no color-temperature adjustment. Bright white lights aimed at your face are not especially relaxing when you are trying to wind down for bed. A warmer setting or at least the option to change it, would have made much more sense. A few installation and finish issues are worth knowing before buying: It does not include anything to protect hard flooring, and it scratched my floor during setup. Use felt pads unless it is going on carpet. There is a large yellow wall mount and mattress size/weight warning sticker right on the visible front of the unit that's about as big as 1/4 of the panel. It should have been placed inside the mattress compartment instead. The adhesive is extremely aggressive, and the cheap sticker tears off in tiny pieces. I eventually removed it using a bank card, rubbing alcohol, and a lot of patience. Be very careful though is you go this route: alcohol can soften/melt the paint on the desk tray if it touches it. This is not a quick one-person assembly. It arrives in three heavy boxes with a ton of parts. Plan on two or three evenings to assemble it properly. You will need help for key steps. The mattress section is extremely heavy when it needs to be moved/ installed into place, and supporting the desk tray while fastening it is difficult alone. Key pieces are not marked “this side up" or "this side out". It is easy to guess wrong, then have to undo several steps to fix it. Do not install it tight into a corner. I did, and it made it impossible to access vital screws after wall mounting. Getting the mattress-platform hinge into place was also a nightmare with no room beside the unit. Overall, it is attractive and functional as an occasional guest bed, but the construction feels lighter-duty than I expected for a queen Murphy bed. Take your time, use two people, protect your floor, remove that sticker carefully, and give yourself plenty of clearance around both sides during installation.
