Fantastic table ! Very sturdy. Beautiful, elegant and versatile

So I really want to give this 5 stars, it does come so close to perfect and I had searched high and low for a pedestal style table that expanded to an oval to fit 6-8 comfortably. This is literally the best match for this. It’s big, it’s super solid, it expands. So why not 5 stars… couple small niggles. First, I think it’s veneered. It’s on solid wood, but the actual finish is veneer which is fine except when there’s an issue like a little nick. It can’t just be sanded down. The veneer also oddly absorbs some stains that I can’t seem to get out from my kids. Very very minor and not noticeable due to the color of the table but it’s there. Secondly, there’s some squarey braces underneath for the expanding mechanism and you can see those parts if you’re coming up to the dining room from the stairs. It’s not major but I wanted the look to be perfect. But I do love the table.
