I have low profile seating and this table is the ideal height, especially with the added shelf where I place my books. It's a synthetic faux wood finish, but it's hard to tell. The three metal lets are round, not squared as I thought from the images. I love my new table.

The table was easy to assemble and the color is correct however there is no grain look to it which was disappointing
