I bought this bed as an open box item. I was very hesitant because you never know what you are getting, but you couldnt beat the cost. Ive had my eyes set on this bed for a long time, as the dimensions were perfect for our tiny space. I couldnt pull the trigger knowing how much it costs and there were some mixed reviews, but I am very happy I took the chance. The bed arrived in 3 boxes pretty quickly. They are very heavy and I took them up piece by piece. You will need to assemble to bed in the room it will reside, as it is large, awkward and heavy. Two people are required once you get to the actually frame assembly, 3 people would have been much easier as it is pretty heavy and to align the holes while having pieces up in the air was tricky. The pieces themselves are cheap particle board, but does feel pretty solid once together. We did have to alter some of the pieces, but my husband who is in the construction industry was able to manipulate and make it work. The front pieces and handles were not even and still do not align perfectly which is a bit frustrating as that is what you see, but we are making it work. We have had the bed for a few weeks now, and we have used it every day with the holidays and sick season, so it has gotten a lot of up and down reps. It honestly feels very solid and the functionality is exactly what we needed. Putting it together and the look of the pieces i would give a 3.5 to 4 star, but the functionality and sturdiness once it is together earned a 5 for us.
