***EDIT: Wayfair doesn't retain my original paragraph spacing so this may be a bit hard to read!*** The overall style is nice, however, there is one major design flaw, among a few other smaller issues. ************** Short version: ************** -------------- 1. Cracked side boards that bears weight. -------------- 2. Very little solid wood for the price. -------------- 3. Rough slats. -------------- 4. Splintered foot board. -------------- 5. Bolts on legs are too long. -------------- 6. Foot board has no mattress support. -------------- 7. Head board is slightly misaligned and has some rough patches. ************** Long version: ************** -------------- 1. The biggest flaw is the side boards being made from manufactured wood with large pockets drilled out, resulting in very weak mount points that tend to crack, in fact, one of them came already cracked out of the box. I attempted to fix the crack myself with a small screw with a properly sized pilot hole drilled first while also being very gentle, nonetheless, the crack got even worse, so I added some wood glue and clamped it to dry. Once dried, it felt reasonably strong, at least the wood layers did not appear to be separating anymore, and so I bolted the joints together gently tightening only by hand. Continuing with the build, I carefully hand tightened the other 3 corner joints, unfortunately, to my dismay, all the boards started cracking from the edge to the large hidden pocket. I was hand tightening only to what I believe is a reasonable level for a secure joint, and I've built many other furniture over the years and have not experienced any cracking to this degree. The new cracks were not as bad as the one that came from the manufacturer so I decided to leave them alone for now. With all that said and done, I simply just couldn't shake off the thought that the bed frame may potentially crack and fall under the weight of 2 adults in the middle of the night and so I hesitantly decided to run to the hardware store to get a 2 inch "L" bracket, in fact, I got brackets for all corners since they all cracked to some degree. Additionally, the foot board joints needed larger brackets due to the design. I used properly sized pilot holes for all brackets and had no issues installing them. I understand the design choice for the large hidden pockets for the joints, as it hides the bolts really well, which is one of the reasons I went for this frame as it looks really clean, but why use manufactured wood knowing the remaining supporting wood surrounding the hidden pocket will be very thin and fragile? The brackets in my repair job do take away a little bit of the neat and clean look, but I'd rather be safe than sorry having gone this far. -------------- 2. Speaking of poor choice of wood, from what I can tell, it seems like the only solid wood are the 4 legs. All the side boards, foot boards, head board panels, and slats appear to be manufactured wood. I don't have anything against manufactured wood per say, except when used poorly for bearing weight, however, for the price I'm paying, I expected to get more solid wood in this build. -------------- 3. The slats are very rough wood and not sanded down at all, to the point where it can easily give you splinters. I was lucky I was working slow, otherwise, I definitely would have received at least 1 splinter, if not more. I was slightly pricked when I touched the first slat, and learned early on that I needed to be extra careful with the remaining slats. Apart from potential splinters, the rough wood also produced more wood dust than normal during the build, so some vacuuming was required. I sure hope the rough slats won't tear up the bottom side of my mattress over time. -------------- 4. The edges of the foot board have a strange rough texture to it, almost like some dried-up glue of some sort, and in some places, it seems to be causing the wood to splinter and peel away, so I had to take a utility knife and sliced some of that off as I was afraid it may cause some tearing in the mattress, or at the very least, maybe some scratching. I'd imagine it could potentially scratch my hands too when making the bed. Another interesting note, as I cut away the splinters, it left behind what appeared to be some kind of fiber, which I ended up plucking away as much as I could just to get a cleaner result. I am perplexed as to why there are fibers sticking out of a piece of wood. Maybe I just got a badly manufactured foot board? -------------- 5. Two of the three center supporting wooden legs have bolts that are just too long. The bolts are permanently pre-attached from the manufacturer and they get screwed through the slats from the bottom. When fully tightened, the bolts extended above the slats, maybe by a centimeter, or a touch above that. It may not be a huge issue, but having sharp metal bolts pressing against a soft mattress, just didn't really sit well with me and it seemed like some potential mattress damage waiting to happen. I found a bunch of spare washers in my toolbox and added 4 to each bolt before screwing them on to act as spacers and that worked well enough for me. -------------- 6. The foot board has no support for the mattress so when sitting at the foot side I sink in a bit more than sitting at the left or right side, not a huge deal breaker, but it would have been nice to have extra support there too. -------------- 7. The last issue may be nitpicking, but the head board panels don't line up 100% flat so it creates a slight bulge near the center where the boards meet. I tried to play around with the alignment for a while and got it closer to being flat, but I just don't think it's possible to get 100% flat due to the way it is designed. It's not noticeable from a distance. Also, some areas of the head board have a rougher texture than I had hoped for, but I suppose it's nothing to lose sleep over. ************** This could have been a great bed frame, if it weren't for the major flaw it came with, on top of the rest of the other several smaller flaws. Taking into account all these flaws, this bed frame should not be priced as high as it is.

Looks great feels very sturdy!

good quality material, easy to assemble, however I do wish the pcs on the headboard would have lined up better, some minor flaws with the pcs lining up exactly, but overall not too bad for the price.
