This ottoman was a pain to assemble (instructions were odd and hard to follow) and then did not open or close properly. The lifting cylinders are just stiff rods made to look as if they are gas lift cylinders, so they do not work at all. If they are attached as instructed, the lid stays firmly fixed open at a 45 degree angle to the rest. If they are left unattached it flops all the way open and slams shut because it only has hinges holding it. February Update Wayfair sent me a completely new unit with instructions to remove the parts I need and return the rest. The gas lift cylinders are exactly the same. The lift mechanisms are made to LOOK as if they work, but do not, which confused me for a long time. This is dishonest and shabby manufacturing.

Like it but too bad it doesn’t open up very high. It would be easier to store things in if it did.
