I was really excited to get this bench to go under the window in my bedroom, especially since the listing advertised it as a solid wood bench. The photos showed a smooth, beautiful wood finish that looked like real timber. Unfortunately, what arrived was a huge disappointment. After receiving it, I had to go back to the listing to see if I had made a mistake in thinking that it was real wood. I ended up discovering that the listing was misleading. In some spots it claims solid wood, but then it turns around and says engineered wood and MDF in others. This is definitely NOT solid wood. It’s lightweight, hollow-sounding when you knock on it, and covered in a plastic-like laminate. The grain pattern looks totally fake and cheap in person—nothing like the smooth, authentic look shown in the product photos. I was planning to put this in the same room as my real solid wood walnut desk, but the cheap, plasticky finish clashes terribly and ruins the elevated, modern vibe I have going on. I’m posting close-up pictures so you can see the actual texture and sheen for yourself before buying. I’ve also included pics against the solid wood desk that I have in my room. If you’re looking for actual wood or even a convincing fake, keep looking. I will say the plus as you get two benches. That is where that listing was confusing as well. Since it said a two-piece bench, I expected the bench to only have two pieces to put together. However, I think it meant that you get two separate benches. So if you do not care about it looking realistic, and you need two benches, go for it

Nice bench, sturdy and matches my existing furniture
