I spent approximately $4,000 on bedroom furniture from Wayfair, and while the furniture itself is beautiful, the delivery process has been such a HUGE inconvenience that I will never order furniture from Wayfair again. Unlike a traditional furniture store where your entire bedroom set is delivered together and placed in your room, Wayfair ships furniture in dribs and drabs. One week you get a nightstand, weeks later the dresser and mirror, then another week the chest of drawers. It creates an absolute logistical nightmare. The first piece delivered was the nightstand, and it arrived with significant damage. To Wayfair’s credit, the return process itself was simple — I only had to send photos, re-box it, print a label, and they arranged pickup and replacement. Previously, we had paid extra for Wayfair Pro delivery service on another furniture purchase, and the service was excellent. For this bedroom furniture order, because we spent around $4,000, the upgraded delivery service was included. Larger items were brought into the home, unpacked, and placed where they belonged. The dresser and mirror were delivered by a moving/storage company because they were too heavy for FedEx or UPS. That delivery was excellent. They brought everything inside, unpacked it carefully, and there was no damage. However, after our bed arrived (purchased elsewhere), we realized the chest of drawers would overcrowd the room, so we returned it. We were charged a $150 return fee, which we accepted because the piece simply would not fit. Now comes the real issue. The replacement nightstand was being shipped separately through FedEx — NOT through the upgraded in-home delivery service. The Wayfair website repeatedly stated the delivery date was May 26. Since we are not yet fully living in the house, we had to drive 30 miles round trip and sit there ALL DAY waiting for delivery. We arrived at 8:00 AM and waited until after 6:00 PM because Wayfair gave us a delivery window of basically “sometime today.” No delivery ever came. After fighting through FedEx's AI system and finally speaking to a human at FedEx, we were informed the delivery was actually scheduled for the NEXT DAY. So now we are forced to spend yet another entire day sitting at the house waiting again. And because the replacement nightstand is coming through FedEx instead of the in-home delivery service, FedEx will only leave it in the driveway or garage. We are now stuck having to hire someone ourselves to move a 150-pound nightstand from the garage into the master bedroom. Had all of these pieces been delivered together — like a normal furniture store does — the furniture would already be inside our bedroom where it belongs. Wayfair seriously needs to rethink how they handle furniture delivery. If pieces arrive at different times from different warehouses, then hold them until the full order can ship together. Customers should not have to coordinate multiple delivery days, sit around for 10–12 hours at a time, and then still be left responsible for moving extremely heavy furniture themselves. Beautiful furniture does not make up for a terrible delivery experience. I may still order smaller household items from Wayfair in the future, but I will NEVER order furniture from them again.
