Solid replacement for my son's worn out metal futon frame.

The wood is stained... but definitely not walnut. Instead of the regal dark brown you would expect when you think of walnut it's actually a terrible shade of brownish gray with highs of green. The color is far from advertized and pictured on the website... I am EXTREMELY disappointed. The worste part is when I called wayfare to verify that it was the same color as in the picture... the lady straight up lied to me. But... it is what it is I guess. The picture I uploaded compare the futan wood to an actual peice of walnut furniture for refference.

Excellent quality futon that performs as well as an actual bed. Beautiful natural wood looks great, and the instructions are color coded. We like it so much we also purchased the drawers.
