These are very handsome and sturdy chairs. The wood is smooth and well finished. The upholstery is a tweedy fabric in off-white/taupe. It will be a practical and neutral color; I don’t expect it to show dirt. These chairs are heavy but with their padded seats and backs they are comfortable. There were no flaws in the six chairs we received.
