Armoire-lit avec matelas Arlex Murphy

Shipping took a bit longer than I would have expected, but it's a very heavy piece of furniture at 362 pounds and it has to be shipped in four different containers by a freight company. We love the color. It's a neutral gray, so not too brown and not too blue, and the material is solid engineered wood. The directions were good and the hardware is well made and everything fit nicely. It is quite a task to put together, so if you're not experienced it is going to be a challenge. We are experienced, but the only reason we knocked it down from a 5 to a 4 is that no matter what we did - and we followed directions exactly as written - the cabinet would not close completely with the mattress on it. After trying everything we decided to take off the straps that are attached to it, and bend the mattress in half, lie on it to keep it tightly together, and then shut the frame inside. When we did that it closed. All in all though, it's a very nice piece of furniture.

This Murphy cabinet bed is a great addition to any multipurpose room. While it is a major project to put together, the end result is a very sturdy nice looking piece of furniture. It arrived in 4 HEAVY boxes and took my son in law about 5-6 hours to assemble completely. But instructions were clear easy to follow. The doors open and tuck back into cabinet which is really nice. The mattress unfolds with ease while only about 5 inches thick it is fairly comfortable. We plan to add a mattress topper when we have guests. Overall I give this piece 5 stars and would not hesitate to recommend.

The bed-in-a-box as I call it, looks great. I was looking for something that could be used as a guest bed and doesn’t take up too much space. It comes in 4 large boxes that are heavy. 2 boxes contain the cabinet wood pieces, 1 contains the mattress, and 1 contains the metal bedding mechanism. There are a lot of pieces, but assembly wasn’t too difficult. A power drilldriver definitely speeds up assembly. Once assembled, the cabinet seems to be pretty sturdy. The bed mechanism opens and closes easily. The memory foam like mattress is comfortable. I took a nap on it to try it out and you can’t feel the bars underneath! The distressed gray color looks good. I put the cabinet in our upstairs game room across from a sofa. I put a 55” television on the top so it has a dual purpose as a tv stand. Overall I really like the bed-in-a-box, I would have given it 5-stars if it was pre assembled. I feel like the price point of the item doesn’t match the amount of assembly required.

I’m on the fence with this review. Another one mentioned it’s too many assembly steps for the price and I agree. I’d add that while the assembly booklet is pretty clear, the packaging of the screws is crazy confusing. All thrown in one bag to sort yourself. Simply separating them into nicely labeled packages would feel more elevated. We are now stuck on step 24 of the booklet to build the cabinet (separate booklet for bed assembly). It looks nice but I’m not sure I’d buy another. We started it last night (3 hours) and after another 3 tonight we will finish it up tomorrow. This is absolutely a 2 person if not 3 person build. So a few warnings should you chose to purchase this too. Also the very first step is mislabeled. It tells you the part needed, but then didn’t label the part to match. Good luck!
