I bought this rocking chair for a nursery with the intention of rocking my newborn. However, this rocking chair was less than ideal for it's intended purpose. Firstly, it smelled terrible (even after having the chair out of the box for a week). Secondly, the armrests are too low for arm support and I would have needed to place a pillow there. And thirdly, the back of the chair is too short for any head support. Not only is this chair meant to relax the baby but I should have felt relaxed as well. Given all the above that would have been nearly impossible.
