The piece itself is fine. It looks nice, but the pieces aren't the best quality. I like the design. I'd probably give the piece itself 3 stars. It's average.
However, I gave the 1 star rating because of the Wayfair's unsatisfactory response to me being delivered a broken item. (The actual service member helping me was perfectly nice, they were just following Wayfair's policy).
I ordered this piece as an open box item. According to Wayfair, an open box item "is in like-new condition and has been inspected by our returns department. We make every effort to look for any indication that the item is defective, damaged or will not work."
When I received the piece, I immediately noticed that one of the pieces of wood that would make up one of the drawers was split in three parts. (see attached photo).
Additionally, some of the hardware pieces were mixed together in the same bag-two types of screws that are very similar in length were put in the same bag, so I didn't realize that I was putting in the wrong screws until I was over halfway through the project. It took like twice as long to put the piece together since I had remove the incorrect screws and put in the new ones. I had to go through each of the screws and separate them.
The one drawer that I was able to put in was really hard to get to fit into the nightstand. I had to sand down the sides and put wax on the sides so that the drawer would open and close. A bit annoying, but not that big of a deal.
I understand that with an open box item, things like this can happen. What I was frustrated with was the response from Wayfair.
I requested that Wayfair simply send me another one of the small wooden pieces that was broken. Then, I'd be able to assemble the other drawer.
However, I was told that "the system wont give me the option to get you a replacement part, neither a full replacement."
To me, this response was not satisfactory. It was not my fault that the piece came broken in three parts. Instead, the only option was a partial refund, which is "keeping the item with a % part of the money."
To me it is completely unfair to send a broken piece to a customer and then be "unable" to make it right in a satisfactory way. Especially since I'm missing a whole drawer now.
Think twice before ordering an open box item. Wayfair won't make it right if something comes broken.
