Love this unusual Murphy stand-alone "flip" bed! It's an expansive desk with integrated electrical and USB port. When the need for an additional guest bed arises, you undo just two large screw pins and the desk portion lowers (with everything on it!) and the twin bed "flips" into view, and you reinsert the screw pins. It is impressively good wood - very sturdy. Straps hold the twin mattress (bought separately) very snugly. It is SUBSTANTIAL in size and I hired professional assemblers to put it together - took two guys a little over two hours.

It’s a great piece of furniture and is very well made

We have a SMALL beach house with only 1 extra room. We needed an office but also an extra bed that was private. This piece of furniture is BRILLIANT. It is extremely well made, high quality and functions perfectly. You can have the desk loaded with stuff and when you use literally two fingers to put it in the bed position, everything on the desk stays in place and tucks under the bed. It is an unbelievable design. A couple things to keep in mind though. It comes in three HEAVY boxes -- pay for the white glove delivery. With the expense of this piece, it is totally worth it, and I don't say that lightly. Also, it is difficult to assemble. You need to strong and patient people, and if you have a small room, it must be assembled inside the room because it won't fit through the door. Also, the piece is a couple inches wider from left to right than listed. We had to remove our wall moulding and cut grooves into the walls for it to fit. All that said, it was totally worth it to us. It is a legacy, heirloom piece of furniture that is functional, interesting and quality. Can't say enough...
