It looks good overall and fits the space I needed nicely. It was a beast to put together, but directions were digestible and so long as you keep the hardware, nuts and bolts organized, and give yourself enough time and patience it can be done. I did it completely solo, but two people that don’t fight, would have made it easier. That said, the completed project required some reinforcement to ensure it stayed firmly attached on the wall. There is an overall slight rickety feeling to it. There are uneven gaps in places and it isn’t perfectly plum. Could be an assembly issue, but I consider myself to be handy compared to most folks. However, value for the money I would recommend it. This is a guest room/office for us. If it were for daily use, I would recommend a more expensive hardwood custom bed professionally installed.

The Murphy bed is beautiful however; assembly is not easy as it says in the literature. My daughter hired someone who was supposedly experienced in assembling Murphy beds and two men came and they were working on it for eight hours and one had to come back next day for 3 hours. In retrospect I think Wayfair should have people who are trained to put these beds together who they can recommend at a reasonable cost.

Lets start at the very beginning. Shipping was slightly confusing, it arrived in four boxes but that was not clear via the email shipping notification. We receiving the first box and got an email saying our order was delivered. Went to set up and realized we didn't have all the pieces. You will want multiple people to move all the boxes, they are extremely heavy! The directions, or lordy the directions. Just throw them out of the window because you'll have better luck with hopes and prayers. They are nothing but pictures and not clear pictures either. We had assembled multiple things incorrectly because it was extremely hard to tell by the pictures. It took us a week to set this bed up spending 3-4hrs a day working on it. The hardware is just as confusing, they put multiple screws, bolts and other various hardware in the same bags with loose pieces of paper with numbers on them to say these are the pieces in this bag. The only difference between them was a little height. We spent way to much time trying to figure out what hardware was what and sorting them ourselves. Now once you finally do manage to assemble the bed the very first time my husband went to get into it, we heard a cracking sound, it was starting to crack!! The bed claims to hold 600lb maximum and my husband is not 600lbs!! Now as for anchoring, they did not consider that most homes have baseboards so the hardware they provide does not work to anchor to the wall. We had to make a trip to our local hardware store and improvise our own anchoring system because we were not about to remove our baseboard or return the bed. You HAVE to anchor this to the wall because once you start pulling the Murphy bed down it will tip. So if you cannot anchor things to the wall, do not even consider this product. As far as the look I love it. And it did work to sleep my daughter when she visited. Just plan to spend hours trying to figure out the directions, assembling and reassembling pieces and sorting/figuring out what hardware pieces are what or the pieces you need. The directions also call for 4 people to assemble and I can tell you that there are multiple steps where you will want 3-4 people. We managed with 3 people.

Returned!! Too complicated for homeowner and for carpenters that we hired to put together.

Love the bed. Instructions were a bit difficult. Once piece was missing but when I went online and filled our the problem they were right on it to get the part mailed. It took 5 days. Which was longer than it took to get the entire bed.
