This table is solid wood and very stable and elegant. It works well with existing counter level stools that we had. It is a little wider than most tables but comfortably fits 6 counter stools without the extension. When the extension piece if positioned we can comfortably add two more stools to accommodate our family. It is extra nice that the extension piece stores under the table. It is pretty easy to move to/from its storage position. This is a nice piece for a family.
