Assembly was simple but took a while and the color is definitely DARK brown. The doors are brownish red and need adjusting which we haven't done yet. The product is solid for mostly particle board and should withstand use for many years. Honestly I'm not in love with it tho - the design is a bit boring with all the flat slabs but our space is limited and it matches our dining area decently and we have a lake cabin so farmhouse rustic will be forever in style here. I would have been disappointed if I had paid more than $120 since many other vendors are charging far more for it. It's a stable unit but has a cheapness about it as do most kit furniture and wood veneer.
