I never write reviews, but I felt I had to disclose the complicated truth about this self-professed, record cabinet. For the price, this is a good item-high in style yet, middling in actual functionality and quality. Buuuut when I shop on Wayfair, I know what I’m stooping to; I’m desperate to find the thing that does the job and need to spend as little as possible. After a decade of having records on the floor, it was time to do just that.
This product advertises it can hold up to 350 records. As it’s designed and to-be-assembled, it cannot.
The shelf area, with cool slidey bar, is great-the metal curved bars are a nice addition as they keep your records from weighing on each other. Clearly some knowledge, of how to properly store records, went into the design of this item….alas…..
It’s the asymmetrical door side on the left that ruins the “up to 350” claim. If assembled as instructed, that portion of the cabinet cannot safely hold records at all. Why, you ask? Well, if you put it together as the directions state, and place a few records inside the box, they will dump over once you close the door. If you halfway fill that box with records they will still dump over, weighing heavily on the records at the back. Say you then try filling the entire box with records…well, you won’t be able to see the records at the back as the way the door opens and closes doesn’t allow enough room to do so.
I felt I had two choices when faced with the limitations of this product when it came to actually storing all of my 325 ish records.
-Disassemble and return it because it doesn’t actually hold all my records
Or:
-Don’t install the box part of the left side*. Just place the records inside that door just like the adjacent shelf therefore allowing one to store the advertised amount of records.
*You may want to run to the hardware store and get some attachable magnet piece so the door doesn’t flop open (which can happen as that door no longer has the box attached whose weight keeps the door closed)
Lastly, I’ll note the the height of the cabinet- seems quite low. I am 5’4” and have to bend over slightly to use the record player. I keep looking at it wanting it to be 2-3 inches higher at least….but not planning to return it. Going to just ignore this and be glad my records are finally off the floor for as cheap yet stylishly as possible.. Farfel. Vermont. Sun Sep 06 2026
