The armrests allow for even distribution of bodyweight, which has made the counter stool my favorite place to sit in our whole house. I have to admit that after assembly, I went and just sat in the counter stool for a long while after waking up in the middle of the night. Yesssssss, it's that comfortable! The reason for the 4 star rating is because some of the metal tabs were bent at a 45° angle when they should have been at a 90° angle, so it helps to have the proper tools to straighten them out.
