I needed a gate for the bottom of our stairs, but the opening is much wider than a normal doorway, so finding one that actually fit was a struggle. This one worked perfectly! I love that the extensions allowed us to fit the entire opening without having to drill a bunch of holes (because we did NOT want to drill into the banister) or come up with some weird DIY solution. Once everything was adjusted and tightened, it feels very sturdy and secure. The gate itself is tall, the bars feel solid, and I really like the support piece at the bottom because it helps keep everything stable. The door is also a good width, so you can actually walk through comfortably instead of having to turn sideways every time. Another big plus is that it looks nice especially with our black accents throughout the house. I was worried an extra-wide gate would look huge and awkward in our living room, but the black actually looks really clean with our space. When we don't need it closed, the gate opens up enough that it doesn't feel like the stairs are permanently blocked off. Installation took a little adjusting to get the tension right across such a wide opening, but once we got it set up correctly, it was absolutely worth it. If you have an awkward or extra-wide staircase/opening and regular baby or pet gates aren't wide enough, I definitely recommend this one. Very happy with it!

I was very excited to receive this cat door but it definitely does NOT fit a 37.4" wide opening. My opening is exactly 37" and the gate width is over 2" short of that, even if you rotate the pressure knobs out all the way. It was not hard to set up but the pictures in the instructions were very small and hard to discern the details. Since it did not fit and I did not want to send it back, I went out and bought some 4" long carriage bolts and rubber floor caps to jerry rig this into a gate that would stay put in my 37" opening. The photos I am showing here show the gate and the gaps with the original rubber grips fully extended. I will try to add later some pictures of the bolts and floor caps I had to add. There is no way this fits 37" and honestly you would be lucky to get it to fit a 35" opening. It might do it but it would be a little shaky because you have to extend the bolts out all the way. Then there is little left for the gate to hang onto. I really did want to give this a better rating but I am disappointed that the measurements and description were not correct, and that I had to go out and buy special hardware to make it fit. If you have an opening under 35" you should be fine and you will love it.

Installed per the instructions, this gate does not fit an opening less than 35”. I was able to install it without the side bars. It doesn’t shut on its own-I have to lift the latch to close the gate, but it’s serving the purpose I needed it for so far.

I really like this gate but my dog has quite a prey drive and she tried to go through the cat door. The result was the gate fell over. We'll have to add an additional brace on the door.

Im loving the Gate and it was totally worth the price! My doorway was a bit smaller than I expected, but the gate was fairly adapatable during assembly to squeeze it in, so a good buy overall to keep my cats separated but still nosey
