The second this waterer arrived, I could tell there was a serious design flaw. The angle where the legs snap into the base is so extreme they don’t actually fit. There is no snap. No click. Nothing. Every single time it was moved or refilled, all the legs fell straight off. I had to resort to aircraft glue just to make it usable. That alone should tell you how poorly this thing is made.
Then there’s the size. The design makes no sense. It has a massive, bulky base and takes up way too much space in an indoor coop. It should have been taller and narrower, not short and spread out like a tripping hazard that eats up floor space.
Getting it to stop leaking after filling it is also a constant fight. Yes, once you finally get it just right, it will hold water—but you shouldn’t have to wrestle with a waterer every single refill.
After gluing it together and putting up with the ridiculous footprint, it worked only until the first night below 32°. Then it completely failed. The tank and the base both cracked and shattered. I already knew it wouldn’t be a winter waterer and planned to put it away—but I did not expect it to be made so thin and flimsy that one simple freeze destroyed it completely.
This is not durable. This is not well-designed. This is cheap plastic with bad engineering, and I absolutely regret buying it.
