It was hard to zip but I did get it zipped. The cat wont go in it. Can I take the heated pad out of it and place the heated pad in the cats bed to use it with out the protected house?

This cat house has provided shelter to a feral, outdoor cat now for four winters since I bought it. This winter Oliver spends most of the time inside on top of the heating pad. Cats are creatures of habit. Once your cat ‘finds’ the house, he or she will use it when it is cold, and even when it is not, as a shelter. Zipper problems, really? If you can zip your jeans, you can zip this house! The pad just provides enough heat to keep the cat’s belly and paws warm. I cover the house with extra layers to protect it from the elements (though it is placed in a porch). One reviewer talked about the house getting wet inside. That’s probably the cat that came in soaking wet. Just dry it a little bit with a towel when this happens and you and the cat will be back in business.

Not sure why there are 4 holes in the bottom? Are there supposed to be feet? Would also like a gasket for around the plug area of the shelter. Seems like a great shelter, with a few improvements.

I bought this Mod Kitty Shelter for a community cat that has adopted me as its caregiver. The product is very well made and I'm sure it will be strong enough to last a long time and the heater is excellent. I like that the heater covers only half the area of the shelter, which gives the cat a choice of what it needs. It was a bit tricky to zip up but well worth the effort. I did make one modification to the set up by sewing a long shoe lace to the bottom of the front pad, and laced it through the bottom holes to secure the pad in place. Also, the shelter is water resistant but it should be placed in a carport or shed so that it is out of the rain and snow.
