The cubby is a bit smaller on the inside due to the poles that hold it all up being wide. But my cat loves laying on the top part. It's a cute little cat condo, I like that it is not traditional carpet material. The top bed part is removable for washing too. Photo for reference my cat is 15.5Lbs
