This chest is very dark cherry, much darker than photo with description. I own a Reed and Barton jewelry chest similar to this. I think it is slightly better quality, more traditional cherry and MUCH less expensive. I bought this American Chest case because it was similar in appearance and the drawers and top were divided in such a way as to meet my additional It is a great addition and I’m keeping it even though it is darker than I anticipated.

A beautiful piece of furniture, one which I am sure will be a family treasure to pass on to my daughter! The only suggestion I have to make this jewelry chest perfect is it needs to have felt or rubber stops to keep the top from falling and slamming into the the wood bottom. I need to go online and get them. Also the right side necklace bar does not stay closed when I open the cover the bar is hanging loose and some of the necklaces have fallen off. I did correct this temporarily by cutting a piece of cardboard to keep the necklaces in place. I will find a more permanent solution. All that said I really do love this chest!

Very impressive Chest. Has plenty of space for all me jewelry.
