Beautiful piece of wood. Its finished on all 4 sides, so it could be used freestanding. I bought it to hang on a wall to hold 4 large heavy ceramic vases. These 4 vases are museum-quality pieces, so they deserved a similarly remarkable shelf. The 48 inch shelf is quite heavy and needs substantial metal brackets screwed into studs. I chose elegant but sturdy brackets as well. I will post a photo when the installation is complete. I expect the result to be stunning.
