I do love the look of it, but it arrived without pre-drilled holes. Because you have to screw in the screws from the back, and the whole assembly has to balance on the teeny edge of the shelf, and then the scrolled wood design may or may not be centered and aligned with the shelf, it's not for someone who has no way to figure it out with tools. My son was able to figure out where the holes should be (how far apart from the center) and then marked those for me to drill into.
Now, then the holes in the decorative part weren't large enough all the way through. They got very small towards the front of the scroll section, so I drilled out some of that as well.
The shelf seems soft material, and I was worried about splitting the wood, but the shelf part is verrry soft wood. It won't split. My picture with the "A" sticker is where the holes should have been.
It might be fine with not pre-drilling, therefore, but how to hold it all steady while you do? You can't balance it together. If it wasn't this cute I would have sent it back. Three stars to prevent others who may not have the skill to assemble it without it being out of square.
Oh, and 2 screws to put it together, and one extra screw -- but it takes two screws to hang it because on the back there isn't one in the center, but two spaced apart. Either it's an extra screw, or missing a screw. I put it up with tiny command hooks in the two screw hangers.
