I really wanted to love this shoe cabinet because it’s absolutely adorable. I ordered it after seeing this style everywhere lately, and I love the way it hides shoes while still looking like a nice piece of furniture. It’s a great concept, and once assembled, it looks fantastic.
Assembly itself wasn’t overly difficult, but it was definitely time-consuming and took me a few hours. Unfortunately, the biggest issue came at the very end. None of the four handles lined up with the pre-drilled holes, so I wasn’t able to install a single one. That was incredibly disappointing after spending so much time putting everything together.
Because the handles couldn’t be attached, opening the cabinet is a hassle. I have to push the doors open from the back or try to pry them open with my fingertips from the front, which only works sometimes. I considered drilling new holes, but the existing holes are so close to the top edge of the wood that I’m worried trying to enlarge or relocate them could damage the panel.
If the handle issue hadn’t happened, I would easily rate this much higher because the finished piece is beautiful and does exactly what I wanted aesthetically. Unfortunately, a shoe cabinet that isn’t easy to open takes away from the overall experience. It’s a very cute piece with a great design, but the quality control on the pre-drilled holes really needs improvement.
