I have been a loyal Wayfair customer for nearly 10 years, and I have never experienced such disappointing customer service.
I purchased a shoe cabinet costing over 700 that was supposed to arrive in two separate boxes containing different components. Instead, I received Box 1 twice, while Box 2 was never delivered. As a result, I have duplicate components but am missing essential pieces, making the cabinet impossible to assemble.
When I initially contacted customer service through chat, I was offered a 20 discount on an item I cannot even put together. How exactly is that supposed to resolve the problem
I then called customer service, hoping for a more reasonable solution. Unfortunately, the representative was unprofessional, dismissive, and unnecessarily difficult to communicate with. When he asked which specific parts were missing, I explained that I couldn’t identify every missing component without being able to assemble the cabinet. His response was, “Communication is the key,” which I found incredibly condescending given the circumstances.
Rather than identifying the shipping error, he arranged for another complete cabinet to be sent and expected me to sort through the components, identify what was missing, repackage all the unnecessary items, remove the old shipping labels, print new return labels, attach them to the packages, and place everything outside my front door for pickup.
In other words, Wayfair made the shipping mistake, but I was expected to do all the work to correct it.
Once I realized that the original shipment contained two identical boxes instead of Box 1 and Box 2, I contacted Wayfair again to explain the exact issue and request that the unnecessary replacement order be canceled. I was told that cancellation was not possible and that the matter had been escalated to a specialized team for further investigation.
This entire situation is beyond frustrating. The shipping error was not mine, yet I am expected to spend my time correcting it while being treated as though I am the one causing the confusion.
What bothers me most is the complete lack of accountability. Not once did I receive a sincere acknowledgment of the mistake or reassurance that Wayfair would take responsibility and make things right.
After nearly a decade of shopping with Wayfair, I expected significantly better service, especially for a purchase of this value.
The cabinet itself may be beautiful, but that means absolutely nothing when the necessary components are missing and the product cannot be assembled.
One star for the purchasing experience and one star for Wayfair’s customer service. Extremely disappointing from a company I previously trusted.. Stefani. Sterling, VA. Thu Oct 29 2026
