The trash can is very sturdy and has a removable insert but it’s not possible to drape a trash back over the insert and hide the bag from outside view. This isn’t a problem since the trash can is in the utility room and a trash bag is not necessary. The foot pedal works well and the lid closes slowly. If you are looking for a trash can that will need a trash bag and seeing the bag will bother you, Wayfair has a lot of other options that include a “ring” to drape the bag over and insert into the can so you won’t see the bag outside the can..
