Yes it’s styrofoam, but that makes it super easy to install IF you actually read the directions and use the correct adhesive. You can paint is using standard latex wall paint if you’re careful it’ll look amazing. Very easy to cut very easy to install. I painted mine first then over rolled and caulked the seams after I installed a few. If you get the 3d ones I would get an air sprayer and put 2 coats of paint on then install caulk and paint the seams. As with anything if you want good results read the directions first look up the videos and take your time. This is a partially finished project and the blotches are only 1 coat the second paint coat makes it come alive

Easy to install... looks are truly amazing... transforms a room instantly. It is definitely a DIY feel good project.

I love these ceiling tiles but you do have to scrape most of the popcorn off to get the adhesive to stick. I can't wait to get it painted and then tea stained.

Great except for the package of non- matching tiles that were in my shipment. It was ok though, I just used them on the closet ceiling
