very heavy brass construction with satin nickel finished. there is a matte almost plastic coating over the bar, but that will keep the finger prints off it. It is of solid construction and modern/transitional looking. the bar is rectangular and flat so holding it is not as nice a feel as if it was round but that is the look of it. Installation is standard with the mounting kit it comes with.
