The tub is well designed, and it comes with lots of documentation, but the one thing it is lacks in the pages and pages of information is Drain Rough In Dimensions. There should be a page devoted to this most basic, yet critical info! It is the first bit of information you need to provide to a contractor. To make matters worse, on the Alcove Installation page, which one would think would display needed drain dimensions, shows the location of the tub drain. The only problem with this is that the tub drain location is NOT where the rough in drain needs to be located!!! If you read through the documents you ONLY see these tub drain dimensions, so of course, logic says, these must be your rough in dimensions…WRONG! If you put your plumbing rough-in in this location, you are in a world of costly rework to correct it! These tubs also need substantial flooring support because of the water weight, so rework can become extremely tricky and costly!!! It would be so easy to provide a simply diagram to layout the location of the CORRECT drain rough-in location as well as the tub feet so additional flooring structure can be added. This should be one of the most important pages in the packet to set up success. Without this information much guess work is encountered. It also creates a point of contention between you and your contractor when it is lacking. I like American Standard products, but they have seriously dropped the ball on this most basic and vital aspect of their tub, thus the low review. If it were included, my review would be very favorable.
