The slider appears to be well designed, but my example was improperly assembled. An autopsy revealed that the slider consists of the slider part that attaches to the rail, an adjustable angle part that holds the shower head, a hollow plastic axle that joins the two parts and a screw that screws into the axle to keep them together. In our example the plastic axle alone was unable to sustain the weight of the shower head and the stress of taking the shower head on and off the slider. The screw that held them together was too short and did not extend into the axle at the critical joint. If the screw had extended from the rotating part into the sliding part, the shower head would have been supported by the steel strength of the screw and it could not have sheared off. Perhaps this is what happened in the case of "Disgruntled Buyer" above as well. Moen should check that short screws are not contaminating their supply of longer screws for this part .

Same problem as Bobcat's review. The base rusts and is damaging wall tile as well as floor tile.

Due to the poor design of the brackets, water accumulated inside the lower bracket and completely rusted the screw holding it in place. So the bottom end is completely detached from the wall. The remaining portion of the screw cannot be removed; it just crumbles in my fingers. I suspect the only fix is to drill out the old screw making a much larger hole, glue in a dowel and use a new screw (do they come in stainless steel?). This also risks damaging the very expensive porcelain wall tile. Maybe I'll just try to superglue it to the tile. You can see in the photo how water enters from the rod into the bracket, where it just accumulates.

We bought a similar Moen product with this same shower head holder and the cheap plastic broke after 6 months. The sliding shower head holder is not durable.
