Bought this with the humidifier and tried both with and without despite some of the negative reviews. The humidifier works great without the cartridge but functions poorly even on the higher setting with it. Ditched the cartridge after one attempted use.

Highly recommend this cartridge to keep humidifier clean and running smoothly. Using this product from the beginning with a newly purchased humidifier makes a big difference in maintaining cleanliness and preventing buildup.

I love the fact that I can decalcify my hard water in the humidifier but I am really torn because I don't know how I can recycle this cartridge and I so wish there was a takeback program where you re-purpose or re-fill them somehow or at the very least, recycle them. Also bothers me a bit that you ask for a review and then make me agree to a disclaimer.
